USS Midway

How long should we allow for a tour of the Midway. I was assuming it would be about a half day thing, but after visiting the website I am not so sure...

2 to 3 hours should suffice. It is a great tour.

We did this a few months ago. We spent about 2 1/2 hours on the ship. You could spend longer if you want to see everything. We also enjoyed the experience. Below is a link to my trip report about visiting the USS Midway (with photos).

We spent four hours there and could have spent longer, but we had an appointment we had to keep.

Does anyone know when the tour will be over?
Is there any cost?
Thanks

We spent about 4 hours there and loved it. We could have spent more time there and still enjoyed it.

The tour is self-guiding, so you do it at your own pace. I think the price is $18.

We were there about 3 hours. Loved the tour and it was even more special because I went with my Dad who had been in the Navy during World War II. He told me his own stories as we toured the ship.

tyler:

I'd plan on half a day - this is a wonderful experience for young and old.

The hours are 10am to 5:00 pm. Adults $18, seniors 62+ $15, youth $10. To print a discount coupon ($2 off regular admission) go to http://www.sandiego.org and click on coupons bottom of page. This is the official San Diego tourist information website and a wonderful resource.

Enjoy your visit.

Thanks for all of the great replies. Is there much a line to wait in when going in, or can you basically show up and get started?

I am rying to convince two teenage girls that they want to to this...

Barbara Jun 22nd, 2010 09:43 AM

Tell the girls that cute teenage guys love this place. Does it matter if it's true? :)

maitaitom Jun 22nd, 2010 09:50 AM

We had a one minute wait to get tickets on a Saturday (early) afternoon.

How old are they? Rather than trying to convince them, why not drop them off in the Gaslamp Quarter or at Seaport Village -- they can poke around quite safely while you are touring the ship (very nearby)

We just walked right on. Think it was a weekday though.

MomDDTravel Jun 22nd, 2010 12:28 PM

We just walked right on. It was really really cool for us since dh was stationed on the Midway while in the Navy. Our kids actually enjoyed it.

Cali Jun 22nd, 2010 10:12 PM

We walked right on and there is a lot of self touring so there are no long waits. We have taken our nephews there when they were young teens and they loved it.
