Used books- Tampa
It's me again, planning my brief trip to Tampa. Looking for the best used book/remainder books (cheap/)independent bookstores in town. A net search showed me 30 stores, and I know I won't have time to visit them all. Any hints on the best ones? Thanks.

Jenny: Don't know what kind of time frame you're looking at, or where you live. But the absolute best tool for what you want is a Used Book Lover's Guide from the Bookhunter Press. Some libraries carry them, as do some bookstores. Or you can order direct. bookhunterpress.com. If you're a serious used-book junkie, the guides will repay you many times over by saving you time and money. The Siegels have been to--and rate--all the used, rare and out-of-print bookstores they can locate, and do a fine job evaluating them.

If by any chance you'll be in St. Pete check out Haslam's Book Store, at the intersection of Central Avenue and 20th Street. It's only 5 blocks from the interstate...I-275, 5th Avenue North exit...they have great used books, large selection, family owned.

For traveling, the best online source for bookstores, I have found, is Evelyn Leeper's http://www.geocities.com/Athens/4824/bookshop.htm<BR><BR> Keith

Thanks for your help. I have the Used Book Lover's Guide for the West Coast and have enjoyed using it. I just haven't gotten the one for the South yet. I'll try to check out the one in St Pete and also take a look at the website. Thanks again.

Glad Joan knew the name Haslams...I just knew the location and had forgotten the name. It's probably about the best in the area.
