You're right that the "costs more for more people" aspect is the same as booking a hotel regularly.

But the poster is talking about HOTWIRE, not booking directly.It makes no sense for regular booking, makes some sense for Hotwire use.

As I understand it, oavcech95 wants to know if by using Hotwire, and saying he/she is booking for 2 people, can it be assured that the room has 2 beds.

For Priceline, the simple answer would be "no" , you can not be assured (even if the reality is that many people have no problem asking the hotel for a room with 2 beds and getting it)

Hotwire has the same stipulation: "room for 2" is guaranteed to hold 2. No indication or guarantee of type of bedding
BUT
Hotwire adds an option that may work for this situation. As explained, book a room guaranteed to hold 3 or more (even if it means paying a little extra)and know that the room has to have at least 2 beds.

To me, it sounds like an option people might want to use in this kind of situation.

oavcech95, if you mean "3 people" rather than "3 beds", yes. However, note that one of the beds might be a sofabed.

OK. I just sat back down with my drink and immediately I get it. I missed the point that you would be bidding for four people just because you might want to guarantee two beds. So in that case you would be paying for as many as four even though you knew all along you were bringing two.

Well, as nyer described, that means they do not have a hotel available at the higher star rating that will guarantee two beds.

I dont know what to choose, because I found a new option but not so cheap. Now Im finding out which hotel it is. Is for 220 dollars

IF you are thinking about this, meaning that you will take the Hotwire deal (which may or MAY NOT be the Sofitel), remember that you have paid for a room. NO refunds.

What if you get a room with only one bed and they have no bigger rooms when you arrive?

OR Remember that they do not have to let you upgrade a Hotwire room by only $30 per day.
They can say that you only paid $150($145?) and the room you want is really worth $300, so pay them the $150 difference.
