US Open Tennis Championships

Does anyone know of affordable hotels in the vacinity of the US Open that offer shuttle service to and from the tennis center?

The Open is held very near LGA airport and the only hotels nearby are a few semi-seedy places for those taking a very early flight.

Unfortunately you really need to go to Manhattan for a decent hotel. Or - if you want to rent a car and don't mind driving in horrendous traffic you might try some of the chain hotels in the nearer parts of Long Island - the prices wil be lower but the commute will be horrenedous.

Stay in Manhattan and take public transportation (subway) to the Open.

And, you better start looking now. The Open accounts for a lot of hotel business!

There are several hotels close to the open and are not seedy. I know the Marriott has a property close by and I think the Wyndham also. If you are going just for the day to see tennis, staying in the city is not needed. I go to the open every year. Years I went just for the day I stayed in Queens.

Yes, but the hotels near the Open in Queens will be waaaay overpriced. They may not be seedy, but they ain't worth what they charge. And then you're stuck in Queens to eat if you stay out there. Stay in Manhattan near the #7 train which runs along 42 st.

Btw, I don't know of any/i> hotel that will have free shuttle service to the tennis.

You want to stay NEAR "the Open" be prepared to pay (as if hotels in Manhattan are cheap!!!!).

I agree - take public transportation (#7 train). There's a direct path to the grounds. You might be able to find an affordable place in Flushing, one stop from the Open.
