US National Parks tours

We are considering a tour next year to include Mt Rushmore and Yellowstone. Any experience or suggestions for a tour company?

Why not rent a car and tour on your own?

What are your ages/activity level?

Are you active and able to keep up with a fast-moving group?

Are you willing to tour a number of other places (and how many days do you have)? What other places do you want to see?

Do you want early starts and long days sitting on a bus?

All valid questions to which I'll add my own:
Do you drive? Do you feel comfortable driving in the US?
Where would you want to fly to to start your adventure?
What month?
After a couple hours at Mt. Rushmore you'll be ready to head west to see Devil's Tower and then westward to Yellowstone.
With a car you can spend several day in Yellowstone where with a bus tour you might get to see much less and be hustled to the next spot to meet the schedule.

You also need to add the Great Tetons National Park to your trip. It's very close to Yellowstone.

While you are in Mt. Rushmore area visit Custer State Park. Scenery is outstanding. Take park tour to see lots of bison; also take some time to sit & watch trucks & campers "squeeze" through the tunnels. Since we had our 10 year old grandson with us we visited historic Deadwood & took in a rodeo. Glad we did; all of us enjoyed it.

I'm with others, go on your own if at all possible.

But don't miss the desolate Bad Lands in S Dakota either - really awesome though not on everyone's radar.

and Mitchell SD is known for some of the biggest kitsch anywhere in the Corn Palace of course built all of corn - now that is corny!

And another S D novelty is the infamous Wall Drug - get a bumper sticker or T-shirt saying "I've Been to Wall Drug, SD")

Don't rush thru South Dakota!
