US Family Vacation Destinations.....

We are interested in learning about nice family destinations in the US. We are looking for accomodations with a great pool, preferably on a beach with some palm trees (not Hawaii though...too long a flight for our children), and things to see and do (Busch Gardens, Six Flags, or something like that). Your thoughts please....looking to go in July or August!

Palm trees would mean So. Cal. or Florida.

How about Williamsburg & Virginia Beach. Busch Gardens Williamsburg. The colonial village in Williamsburg. A visit to Yorktown. No palms at the Va Beach hotels, but you can find a pool and the beach, of course. Family amusements in the area. A day trip down to Kitty Hawk for some more American history.
SAN DIEGO! It doesn't get terribly hot here like in Florida, we have virtually no humidity, which also means no thunderstorms in the afternoons. As for things to do, of course we have the beach and hiking, SeaWorld, San Diego zoo and Wild Animal Park, Legoland and even Disneyland is about a 2 hr drive. I can't help with accomodations, but there are lots of threads on the hotels here. Happy planning & Have a great vacation!

I would vote for Kiawah Island, SC. It was one of our favorite vacation places.

Destin, FL - would be hot in July and August, though.
