US Airways Labor News

It sounds from the news release that the bankruptcy judge is siding with the airline.

Procedures to cut wages and benetis seem to be the next step.

I wonder if US Airways will now survive? They are cutting costs to the bone.

Anybody have any real insights into these negotiations, ratifications, and court actions??

make that benefits.

This is just my personal opinion but...I think there are too many creditors who have a stake in seeing US Airways survive so they can be paid back.

Do you have a link Brookwood?

Brookwood,
The bankruptcy judge isn't neccessarily siding with the airline, but following legal precedent which allows for a bankrupt company to dictate contract terms without the normal collective bargaining process. It is usually fairly complex process and there are steps that have taken place to get it to that point. But, it actually happens fairly often.

At this point, USAir sinks or swims based on how much cash they have and the viability of their business plan. The stunt pulled by Philadelphia employees really hurt the cause, though.

Ryan, was any disciplinary action taken by the airline regarding these employees?

I've heard that you had to have a doctors note to call in during that time.

Don't know GoTravel.

I have no inside knowledge.
I don't anyone employed by US Airways on a personal basis.
I do know that the commuter service in and out of Charlotte has been cut.

US Airways is how I usually fly in the East, even overseas from Charlotte. I keep hoping things will turn around for that airline. But I have seen quite a bit of evidence of poor management coordination.
