URGENT: Places help for anniversary

Hey Guys,

I had to move very recently to St.Louis metro area and our anniversary is coming up next week. Need suggestions for places/resorts/national park to go for anniversary (not the first) for 4 days. I can consider flying out if the suggestion is good.

I know you guys are awesome!

Thanks

Actively thinking of Aspen, Colorado. Please advise and suggest places to stay if it is a good choice.

Thanks

Hotel Jerome--or the Ritz or Little Nell in Aspen would be celebratory!!
Someone posted this recently and it looks LOVELY.

Eureka Springs isn't that far from StL.

Aspen is a good suggestion. Lots of possible accommodations and good restaurants.

The historic Stanley Hotel in Estes Park next to Rocky Mountain National Park is beautiful. Sits high atop the hill overlooking Estes Park. Primo rooms and restaurant.

From St. Louis the drive to RMNP is not that bad...or you can fly into Denver and rent a car.

Of course there's plenty of spectacular hiking in the park:

In Estes Park there's a marina where you can rent a boat, horseback riding, jeep tours just outside of the park. The drive across the park on Trail Ridge Road is a great way to spend a day.

See my thread, Greetings from Awesome Aspen, for condo/hotel and restaurant recommendations. We love Aspen, and recommend it highly. It is definitely in a class of its own.

The Hotel Jerome is a favorite of ours, but it is very expensive nowadays.

Having done the drive from the STL area to Denver a number of times, it wouldn't be impossible==but it is a full full day--there and back. Catch up on your audiobooks if you do it!!

"but it is a full full day--there and back." You mean a full day each way, non?

Close to STL is Hermann Mo, a winery town. Haven't been there in a decade (or more) but it was a pleasant drive/visit. I think I remember B&Bs and a nice restaurant, plus wine tasting. May not be big enough for an anniversary trip, but something to keep in mind.

And if memory serves (please double check) you could day trip there and back by Amtrak, though I'm not sure whether you need ground transport once there.

Yep, of course. Just a reiteration that it it takes days from the vacation.

It's a good point, G. Just clarifying.
