Urgent Feedback required -Gourmet San Francisco Dinner Cruise For Two at XperienceDays

Hi Fodorites!

I am desperately looking for feedback on- Gourmet San Francisco Dinner Cruise For Two at XperienceDays.Has anybody here taken the tour?

I am planning to book the above dinner tour as a birthday gift to my husband and I have to book it by tomorrow if I decide to go for it.

I searched for the reviews on Google and Yahoo as well but could not find any reference.

Appreciate urgent feedback.(like if it is good, bad, worth the money 250$ for 2,howz the food etc) or any reference.

Thanks in advance.
P.

Hello paryatak, I have never heard of this cruise but topping for you so hopefully other Fodorite's will see your thread and give you some information.

I hope it's a good company, but they are not found on BBB (better business bureau)

I have never heard of them - but in general -- "dinner cruise" and "gourmet" seldom go together.

In a true foodie heaven like San Francisco, I'd personally avoid a dinner or lunch cruise. I'd take a general cruise or a ferry and eat at a place known for its food.

just looked at the website - $250 a couple on a boat that size doesn't really interest me. And the menu is not deluxe/adverturous by any means.

I also have never heard of this cruise, but have you considered having a great dinner (no shortage of excellent restaurants in SF) and then taking a bay cruise (without the dinner part)?

Hi All,

Thanks for your reply and suggestions.

LoveItaly, special thanks to you for the nice gesture.

I got feedback from one of my colleagues and she said she really enjoyed it.

So I booked it.Hope it turns out good esp. after looking at your suggstions and opinions I am becoming quite apprehensive.

Anyways,I will update you about my experience.

Thanks,
P.

It will probably be fine - but you are paying a premium for being on the boat. If you treat it as a cruise w/ food instead of a posh dinner, you will probably be happy in the long run.

Pary, please come back with a review - we will be waiting. I'm curious :)

Hi Fodorites!

So finally I have been there yesterday. Its the same cruise as that of Hornblower.I think its just that I booked it online by Xperience days.

In all,for us,it was a different experiece. The price included taxes and gratuity. So I am not sure if $250 for 2 is justified or not.

The menu was exactly the same which was mentioned by FainaAgain and there were not many vegeterian options available. So its going to be an issue if you are veg.

In our opinion the food was not that great.Again the food is very sensitive matter and everybody has individual preference and taste. Also we thought the desert and apetizer was better than the main course.I being the vegeterian had to take the "Rottolo di Spinachi" and my husband tried "Pan Roasted Salmon Pinwheel".There was no apetizer for me.They arranged for some biscuits, berries and cheese.About the desert I tried Lime Pie and my husband tried the chocolate mousse pyramid.

This package did not include any drinks other than tea, coffee and water and other drinks would add some extra cost to it.

But in all, my husband liked it and it was something different which he never tried out so I am happy about that.

With Best Regards,
P.

You had a different experience, no major complaints, the food provided sounds like on any cruise line, and you don't sound sorry, that's all that counts!

Happy belated birthday to your husband :)

Paryatak, if you are still around, thank you for your review! Our kids are taking us on a lunch cruise, and your review is helpful.

I am ready for the San Francisco usual - it's either a view, or food. I'm going for the view :)
