Upscale hotel in Oahu with kids?

Traveling to Oahu with little kids in August and need advice on nice, clean, upscale hotels with decent size rooms. Went to Maui last year, stayed at the Hyatt and Fairmont Kea Lani and loved both, but especially loved the Kea Lani. Is there anything comparable on Oahu?

THANKS!!

My suggestion would be Hilton Hawaiian Village in the Ali'i Tower. Ali'i Tower has it's own pool & hot tub, concierge & other amenities. It is close to the penguins & kids could watch them being fed. I wouldn't say it compares to the Kea Lani, but it's great. If you want to be away from Waikiki, try the JW Marriott Ihilani or the Marriott Beach Club at Ko'olina (timeshares) next door.

The Kahala Hilton is upscale and very nice- but you have to drive into Waikiki - they have a dolphin pool
I have stayed at the Aston Waikiki Beach Tower- nice big rooms - in the heart of Waikiki - its not really a resort though -

sunburn1944 - FYI, the hotel in Kahala changed from the Kahala Hilton to the Kahala Mandarin Oriental quite a few years ago. Still fabulous.

Another vote for the Hawaiian Hilton. It is gorgeous, for one thing, and there are all kinds of activities and demonstations scheduled for all ages throughout the day.

Hands down...Hilton Hawaiian Village in the Ali'i Tower!!! Excellent accomodations with everything you will need on the property... they also have a wonderful Friday night Polynesian Show that is free and features performers from the Polynesian cultural center plus fireworks! This show will save you a trip and a couple hundred dollars to the PCC. We got a suite with two queens, a queen fold out and 2 baths, plus a huge outside balcony with a view of the beach and Diamondhead... Have fun!

HHV

Wow, thanks everyone for the tips! Apologies..haven't checked this message board in awhile. I called costco travel today and was able to book a 2bdm/2ba condo at the Aston Waikiki Beach Tower for $337. With 4 kids, the extra space is really a plus for us. Does this seem too good to be true? Is there a huge gotcha at this hotel that we need to beware of? Otherwise it sounds like the HHV is probably the way to go. Has anyone ever stayed in the lagoon tower..it's supposed to be condo style?
Thanks!

I stayed at the Waikiki Beach Tower several years ago - we thought it was very nice - can't imagine you wont enjoy it unless things have changed

Wouldn't call the Aston "upscale" although it may work well for your family. Otherwise I would pick Ko'olina.

If you're going to stay in Waikiki, you're not going to find anything comparable to the Kea Lani (I stayed there pre-kids). That said...

We stayed at the Aston Waikiki Beach Tower a few years ago, and we LOVED it. Click on my screen name to see a few posts I made about it. It's not a luxury "resort," but the extra space, full kitchen, and washer/dryer made a world of difference for me and my family. The pool was pretty sorry, but the Tower is across the street from a perfect beach for my kids--and they prefer sand castles and jumping waves anyway. View from our condo overlooking Waikiki beach was superb--my dad liked to get up early and drink his coffee watching the surfers early in the morning. Service was wonderful! I'd stay there again in a heartbeat. We've also stayed at the HHV (although not in the Alii Tower). My kids loved the penguins, but the beach wasn't great, and the pool, although fairly large, wasn't a hit with my kids. The resort seemed crowded and very spread out to us and service wasn't particularly good. I would probably pass on the HHV next time we visit Oahu.

well, costco travel called back today to say that when they called the hotel to confirm that the "promotional" rate was sold out and that there were only rooms available at the "regular rate" of $425 for the 2bdrm/2ba condo. Still probably going to stay there, but will continue to research to see if there is anything else I can come up with. Any other ideas are welcomed!
thanks again for the tips!
