Upscale Hotel
Planning a trip to the midwest with Milwaukee being one of the stops. Looking for upscale hotel in the area. What is the "best" hotel in the area. Thanks.
|
you should really also put the city name in the heading. Your posts look like they've been duplicated instread of each being for a different city.
Check tripadvisor.com for hotel comments/reviews. |
Try the Pfister Hotel. It is a Milwaukee legend.

I think that the HILTON and the PHISTER are probably the 2 most VISUALLY upscale. And right downtown which adds to the upscale feel. But what is "upscale" to you.
Do you have kids? The Hilton has a very large and kid cool indoor water park. The 2 are in different locations in reference to possible attractions. Not an enormous difference but a difference. This leads to another question. Will you be taking in attractions if so which ones? I work at 10th and State St. I have lived in the Milwaukee area for about 20 years. It is a tough place to formulate a "vacation" itinerary. Every thing is spread out and it lacks the features like a San Francisco or Montreal. I found a web site that that is pretty much one stop shopping. Pictures, links, and unusual info. With some study on this site a visitor good piece together an itinerary of what interests them. A car would probably be needed, but a determined soul with enough time could use the buses. http://www.december.com/places/mke/places.html |
You have three posts with the same vague heading.
However, you received some more answers on your other post on the same subject: http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessa...t=0&screen You can access all of your posts by clicking on your screen name! |
You need to be more specific about "in the area". If an hour away is "in the area", I'd go to the American Club in Kohler, WI

I recommend the Hotel Metro, nice boutique hotel, art deco design.
http://www.hotelmetro.com/ A different suggestion is to stay in Madison rather than Milwaukee.... |
Downtown is the Hotel Metro on Mason St. -- funkier type hotel but I've stayed there a few times with husband. Almost next door is the Pfister or do the Hilton on Wisconsin Ave. Hotel Metro has a great bar/restaurant...but is also walking distance to many dining spots.

I've stayed at the Pfister. I know it has a great history, but it did not seem upscale to me. It reminded me of the Brown Palace in Denver, on old hotel with a history and some old style charm in the common areas, but not what I consider upscale and the rooms I've stayed in were certainly not "upscale".
