upper east side hotels nyc
Hi Big Apple People,
Am visiting my young adult nieces, who live in Yorkville (the Upper East Side). Would love to do the NYC scene, but since we are leaving our 13yr old with the big girls, wanted to be relatively close to them to avoid too much back and forth. Any ideas for hotels besides the Marriott? Any restaurant recommendations? Thanks in advance. |
The Marriot is the closest location to your nieces, since it's on 92st between 1st and York, assuming your adult nieces live above 86th street.
Here's another hotel I pass by almost daily that looks cute http://www.uppereast.com/thefranklin.html It'll give you closer access to the Lexington Ave subway. Are you looking for restaurant recs in the neighborhood or in general? Price range? Types of food? |
Thanks so much for your input. I guess we would like to hang with the girls in their neck of the woods, so any thing in the upper east side would be great.

The Franklin imo is not very nice. The Courtyard Marriott UES is the closest to Yorkville. The Wales is on 92 st. and Madison Ave. The Affinia Gardens is at the southern end of the UES in the 60's. Staythenight.com is a b & b off Madison on 93 st.
Your nieces might quite like to get out of their apt. and spend some time in a nice hotel room. ;) If you can swing a 1 bedroom suite in one of the www.affinia.com hotels, that might be good for everyone. For restaurants, menupages.com will be a big help. |
Thanks so much. I am new to this website but could see why people like it so much.

Good Viennese breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Cafe Sabarsky in the Neue Gallery 86th and 5th.
Sfoglia on 72nd and Lexington for good Italian. Reserve in advance. |
Sfoglia is actually at Lexington and 92nd. Call well in advance for a table.

The Marriott is a LONG walk from the subway. Easy to get to your nieces on foot - but a trek to anyplace else, and the few sights on over on Fifth Ave.
I agree to check out the affinia - much closer to other things to see/do - and still only 10 minutes or so to nieces. |
