University of Maryland
In 2012, my husband and I visited all twelve universities in the Big 10. It turned out to be lots of fun. The campusses were beautiful and the college towns were fun.
Now, we are visiting the two new universities that have been added to the conference. Can anyone help us with iconic things to see at the University of Maryland? It will be a quick stop en route to New York City. I am thinking about a quadrangle, special statue that students use for photo opportunities, a non-chain non-time campus restaurant,.... |
I found this
http://www.umd.edu/campus_tour/#DSC_1228.JPG It looks like exactly what I was looking for as far as the basic things to see. More thoughts are welcome. |
As UMD had almost 40,000 students, the campus area is teeming with with places to eat - many are excellent, many are bad, but all are cheap and often with "booth seating" (as is typical for a college town. Here two to consider in the immediate campus area - http://phodlite.com/ and http://eatfishnet.com/
Two miles south of campus on Rt. 1 are more "sit-downy" restaurant options: http://www.franklinsbrewery.com/ and http://www.busboysandpoets.com/about/hyattsville are two I like. |
Perfect. We are en route, starving and I just logged on to see if anyone had given us any ideas. Thanks.!

We settled on Busboys and Poets and are there now. I love it! We certainly never would have happened upon it without your help, bardo. Thank you!!
