Universal Studios vs Island of Adventure
We are leaving for Florida on the 18th. We are flying into Orlando and will be going directly to Universal Studios when we get there. We have two small children ages 1 and 5. I know that neither parks are really geared toward kids that young, but my husband has never been and insists on going. We will only be doing one of these parks since we will be going to Disney the next day. As of now, we plan on going to Universal. From what I have seen on the website, it looks like there are more rides (geared towards teens and adults) at Island of Adventure and more things to see at Universal. Is this right?
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Check for park hoppers so you can do both. The parks are 100 yards from each other. Islands of adventure has a Dr. Suess area and a few rides geared towards children. Universalhas a few attractions such as Shrek and Men in Black that childen would like. For an adult I pick Universal by far.

Dr. Seuss land in Islands of Adventure is great for little and big kids. i could ride the Cat in the Hat ride all day! The roller coasters on Islands side are fabulous, HULK is the BEST! Spiderman ride is 3-D, I think small kids can ride with adults, it is great fun.

Universal has been generous with deals, many only available purchase in advance on the web site. I believe you should be able to get both park tickets for a reasonable price. I think their AAA deal is worth checking as well. With the limited number of rides your young ones can access, you will have plenty of time to do all the attractions at both parks.

We've been taking our kids to Orlando for many years, starting when they were your kids' ages. They always loved Universal. Now they love Islands of Adventure but I wouldn't take small kids there - there's lots of roller coasters. Universal has more "attractions" as opposed to rides.

we took our 2 and 4 year olds in March to Islands of Adventure and there wasn't much for them to do at all. The Seuss area is nice, but the main attractions are the roller coasters. I spent most of the day hanging out with the kids while my husband did rides with my brother. The park does have nice outdoor areas, and if your children are Spiderman fans, the picture opportunity and interaction may be worth the price of admission. I found the theming of the lands great. If the day is for your husband to enjoy mostly, then Islands, for kids, I will do Universal Studios next time.
The spiderman ride did not allow small children to ride with adults - it had a height limit. The Seuss ride also did not let my infant child ride on my lap, so your 1 year old needs to be able to sit in a seat next to you. The other rides in Seuss Landing were also off-limits with the baby. Check the height requirements on the websites.
