Universal Studios, Hollywood
 
I'm looking for a family friendly hotel near Universal Studios in California. We don't mind having to drive a little bit, it doesn't have to be right next door. We will have a rental car. Flying into LAX. Suggestions?

There is a Holiday Inn Express nearby in addition to the biggies such as Hilton and Sheraton.

Also, there's the Beverly Garland Holiday Inn on Vineland, which is probably a mile or so from Universal.

I saw the Beverly Garland, and it looks great, but a bit more than I want to spend. I can get cheaper right on the beach in Santa Monica. If I'm going to pay that, I'd rather stay near the beach. I'll check out the HI Express.
