Universal Properties-parking
I was told if when you check into any of the Universal Properties you should tell them that you took the shuttle to avoid the $12.00 daily parking fee. Has anyone out there done this? Do they check the lot for cars and tow?
Please advise

When we were there a couple of months ago, the kiosk to pay to get into the parking lot was at the entrance to the parking lot, so there was no way to avoid paying. They give you a ticket to put in your windshield, too. However, I would pose this question on www.disboards.com in the Universal forum because those people are experts beyond belief on how all these parks work.

Maybe because when I am spending over $1,000.00 for a hotel room I should get free parking?
I didn't ask about if I was a moral person or not, I asked if our car would get towed. When I need to confess I will write to you, okay?

Er...all I can say is that if my 26-year-old son asked me this question, I'd read him the riot act. As my own father would have done if I'd asked him such a question.
And even if the ethics of the situation is irrelevant, it's just not worth the sweat, imo.

So, which question is the one you want answered -
Has anyone else lied to save $12 parking fees? (Please note, there is a charge to take the shuttle from the airport so folks who really do take the shuttle are paying the hotel for that service as well. Their ride is not free)
Will they check the camera that takes a pic of all the license tags that come in and out of the lot?
If so, will they match up your car tag to the hotel room folio?
If your car is towed, how much will the tow fee be?
Which answer will be most helpful to you in making your decision about whether or not to lie about taking the shuttle?

Yes, they charge for parking. You can try and complain. I did when staying at the Portofino last summer. To no avail.
I knew going in what they charge. I also know that tacking on a parking fee is simply a way to generate a 100% profit item for a hotel. When I stayed at the Princeville Kauai, they waived it.
