universal or islands of adventure???
 

Which one is better suited for kids ages 4 & 6. We will be in orlando in march and want to take our kids to one of the parks. Which one has more for the kids to do. They do not like water rides. Thanks for your help

I just took mine last summer to IOA. Ages 5,6 and 10. There was a ton to do and I think it is more fun then the studios part for that age.

IOA has cat in the whole Hat area (whoville I think?) that is great for their ages. Ands they have character meals at Confisco's (I think that's the place- in the park) where cat in the hat, grinch, other universal studios characters make the rounds and take pictures w/kids, sign autographs. Fun fun fun for those kids. but lots of the ohter rides will be way too much for htem. Same for Universal Studios. A few areas for their age, like the water park area, it has a theme but I can;t think of what it is, it's an outdoors open house type thing that has water spraying up from everywhere, water cannons they can shoot you and each other with, and every 10 min. a big bucket of water falls form way up high all over everyone. But alot of the aprk is too much for them- eg terminator and twister would scare the living daylights out of them. Do they have an ET ride in Florida yet? They ahev that one at Uinversal in CA and it is wonderful- we rode it when we went w/our kids at your age so many times I lost count.
Go online and chekc out all the rides and attractiosn in both parks and you will see what I mean. A few fo rlittle ones, but not alot. More geared towards older ones I think.

I agree with the previous poster that you should go to the Universal website where they give a description of all the attractions. You know your children better than we do. There is plenty to do at both parks for young children. IOA has the whole Dr. Seuss Island section. They also have Jurassic park with the discovery center if your children like dinosaurs. Go to www.disboards.com Scroll to the Universal forums. There is a section at the top of one of the threads that specifically deals with what there is to do with young children at each of the parks. The site is VERY helpful.

I think Universal has more to do for the under 6 crowd. There's a Barney show, Nickelodeon, ET, Shrek 4D (new), a small roller coaster, Jimmy Neuton (new) and shows like Animal Planet and a stunt show. The 6 year old, if tall enough, may enjoy Men in Black. My kids also love two playgrounds at Universal. One is Fleival's playground - lots of room to run and climb. The other is the Curious George playground - lots of water to splash in. Take bathing suits for the kids and a towel to the park - they can change in the bathrooms at the Barney place. There is also a ball playground at CG that my kids enjoy. At IOA, my 7 year old found about 5 rides she could ride and prefers the Universal park. If possible, stay on site for at least one night of your trip. You get front of the line passes - these are great timesavers. Also, Universal and IOA are very good with the "kid swap" arrangements. You all go thru the line together, one parent rides while the other waits in a special place with the kids then you switch. Also, if you don't have the pass and just the adults are riding, look for rides with single riders (like MIB) as you'll move very quickly. Have a great time!

Someone correct me if I am wrong but one pass will get you into both parks.
You could do a little of both parks if this is true. The kids may be a little young for marathon park hopping but if you are staying at one of the nearby hotels you could let them nap in between. Just a thought anyway. Have fun!

You pay more to park hop. I think it was in the $75 dollar range. I agree that the two parks together are do-able in a single day.
