Universal Florida Entertainment
My husband & I are in our sixties & will be going to Universal in early May. We are staying on site. I am a little concerned if there is going to be enough for us older folks in the way of entertainment. Also, are some of the shows free with your entry to to the park or are they extra $$$'s. We are planning on going to SeaWorld 1 day and we do enjoy pools. Are there any rides that are not to crazy? Any info would be appreciated.

Shows that are regular attractions are included in the price of the park entry.
There are plenty of rides that are not"too crazy"
For great information you can go to :
www.universalorlando.com and see and read what the attractions are all about.
You can also visit
www.disboards.com and scroll down to the section on Universal.
By staying on site you will not have to wait in any long lines. You just show your room key and get all day express acces to the attractoins.

Universal is just different than Disney. One of the things we really enjoyed at Universal was the food throughout the park. Mythos is a very good place. Their park food is several notches above most other amusement parks. You will find plenty to do their. Don't know if you would be up for spiderman, but it is a very good ride that is mostly simulated. You will feel like you are actually a spider/man climbing a building. Any of the three onsite Hotels are very nice. It is not to far to eat a different hotel, so be sure and look at all of the restaraunts available.

That link will give you a dining guide to Universal. I totally agree. You MUST eat at Mythos. It is located in the Lost Continent in Islands of Adventure. FANTASTIC food, atmosphere and service.
Also there is an Emeril's at City Walk and Emeril's Tchoup Chop in the Royal Pacific Resort.
One of the many wonderful things about Universal is it is VERY easity walkable.
Portofino is the furthest from the parks. Royal Pacific and Hard Rock are easy walks, but all the on site hotels provide water taxi and bus service also. The walk between Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure is maybe six minutes with City Walk being in between.

Universal has two parks: Universal studios and Islands of Advanture. Universal is a lot of fun for all ages. Islands of adventure is mostly (thrill) rides. Universal will keep you busy with it rides and shows(none of which are thrill rides. I live in Florida and have been to every park 5 times and enjoy Universal the most.
Sea World is also terrific. There are shows and exhibits and plenty of fish and mammals. If you go to the artic exhibit DO NOT go on the motion part of the exhibit (it is a simulated helicpter ride that will make you sick. You can see it wiuth out the motion aspect.
You may also like EPCOT. It has intersting rides and of course the international side of the park with great 360 degree movies and Flight.

I don't agree that Islands of Adventure is mostly "thrill rides" There are two big coasters--Th e Hulk and Deuling Dragons. Then there is Dr. Droom's Free fall. The rest of the rides are not at all scarey and the theming throughout the park is outstanding. The music even changes as you go form "island" to island. There is such attention to detail. Jurassic Park even has fossils in the pavement. Amnityville is like a New England town. The theming in the Lost Continent section is also outstanding.
