United Nations tours
We are considering a United Nations tour on our upcoming trip to NYC. I searched here and see that many people enjoyed the tour and thought it was worthwhile.
According to their website, they have many tour times. I wonder if we can just walk in and sign up for a tour or if it is better to book it an advance. Waiting until we get there would make things more flexible. |
I did some more checking and all the online tickets are sold. The website said that a few may be available for purchase once we arrive.
Are there things to see if we arrive and no tickets are available? |
As you can imagine security at the UN is extremely tight - so you can certainly see from a distance but not sure you can get into the complex without some sort of ticket or reservation.
(Last time I was inside was my 5th grade class trip - but I used to work 2 blocks away.) |
Thanks NYtraveler.

It has been about 5 years - we didn't have tour tickets and we just happened to be in the area, but we were allowed into the visitors center after going through security. I don't remember very much except there was an interesting exhibit about malaria.

Disclaimer-I have not been on the tour in many years, but for me it was a snooze fest.

Thanks for the comments. We may just walk there and see what happens. I remember seeing a photo of it in "My Weekly Reader." It is amazing what stays with you for years. I always wanted to see the Space Needle for the same reason and finally did.

We went a couple of years ago as we live around the corner. We had not made reservations, but were able to join a tour. Like IDH above, I thought it rather dull. Definitely a Class B attraction in NY.
