united nations in NYC

I will be in New York City later this year and was considering visiting the united nations building. Has anyone out there carried out a tour of the building and was it interesting. Would it be a place you would only put on your list to visit if you had political interests?

I enjoyed my visit & tour to the UN. I thought some of the things were very interesting. I think you would have to have some interest in politics but not necessarily be current or follow polititics regularily. I thought it was interesting of the ~8 families/individuals on my tour, there were 2 groups of americans the rest were foreigners. I was glad I went.

Went many years ago and greatly enjoyed it. The concept of all these different people trying to work together was pretty inspiring. I think it was worth it and would go again.

Due to heightened security right now, I think the UN has stopped allowing visitors and has suspended all tours.

Friends went last week (with 2 cynical teenagers). UN reopened for tours months ago.
