United Kauai nonstop fares

Hi all, and Happy New Year!
I'm trying to get an idea of what's a good deal on the United nonstop to Kauai (LIH) from San Francisco (SFO) in July 2009. I started watching the fares about a month ago and it's dropped from $964US to $864. Does anybody have info on peak travel period fares on this route? You think lower fares are probable? Yes, predicting airfares is impossible, but I'm just trying to get an idea of the odds. Many thanks in advance!

We've flown that route several times and I watch that route fare ofen. The lowest I've seen it is around $750 and that was several years ago. It is the only non stop to Kauai from SFO, so the fare doesn't fluctuate on that one too much. It might go a little lower, but I wouldn't count on another $100 drop. Who knows though?

Thanks iamq! That's exactly the kind of info I'm after.

Mark, do you know kayak.com ? When you search for prices, they have a "chart" which shows which dates in any given month are cheapest to fly and also a history of the fare prices for the last 90 days.

Good suggestion, mclaurie--I use Kayak all the time. It's a great site, but the fare history function lumps together all the econo class fares, whether it's a nonstop or 2+ stops. I can't figure out how to get a history of only the nonstop fares. Any ideas?

Have you tried Farecast.com?

$900 for a RT ticket to Kauai is too expensive. I heard arirlines canceled lot direct flights to LIH to cut capacity.

If i am allowed, I would suggest you think about alteratives;

(1) fly into HNL and then take inter-island to LIH

(2) "name-your-own-price" on priceline.com. You can specify dates but not specific time to fly but saving could be as much 50%.

Happy traveling!

Hi, Mark.

I'm also going to Kauai in July, and I booked my ticket with frequent flier miles on the non-stop United route (SFO-LIH) last August. At the time, tickets were running just about $1000.

A few years ago (May 2005), the same route was somewhere between $800 and $900, don't remember exactly. I don't watch this fare closely, but I wouldn't expect to see it for less than $800 (or much less) from my own experience.

Good luck!
