Unique Honeymoon
 

Hi! My fiancé and I will be married next spring, our wedding is June 20, 2015. We are wanting to take our honeymoon in July. We are starting to look into planning our honeymoon. We came up with three ideas that we were so excited about, then our travel agent told us that our budget was too small for any of them. We were wanting to either go on a ski trip in the summer, go "Glamping" or go to a ranch. Basically we were wanting to go somewhere that is not on the beach or in a tropical location and we wanted to go somewhere that offered outdoor activities. Our budget is 5,000 dollars for accommodations, however some of the places we looked at are all inclusive (meals, activities etc..) For somewhere that has everything included we would be willing to spend up to 7,000 (not including airfare). We believed this amount of money is a sufficient amount of money but apparently it is not (unless our travel agent is telling us wrong). We often stay in five star resorts and have both been all over the world (I only say this so I can get the suggestions that would best fit us). We are trying to find somewhere in the mountains in a cabin, boutique hotel, secluded resort or anything of the sort! We are looking to go away for 7 days. We are open to staying in two different locations if the price for one of the locations is extremely expensive per night. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you all so much.

Also near Bend is the Pronghorn Ranch (also nice).
West of Redmond is the Lodge at Eaglecrest.
Southwest of Bend there are some nice places for rent in Sunriver.
Any of these places should fit within your budget.
The main airport for the area is Redmond. Bend and Sunriver also have small airports.
Check the view of the Cascades (Three Sisters) on the Brasada website.
You are not likely to get any skiing in July at Mt. Bachelor or anywhere else in the US that I am aware of.

I think for skiing at the time of year you need to go to South America. There are also ski schools in a couple of the highest mountains of Switz - but that is shockingly expensive and I don;t hink your budget would work.

sounds like a ranch resort night be the best summer option. Sorry I have no specific suggestions but surely there are some that are fairly luxurious if you want western riding.

Hi! Thank you all so much! We cruelly got a quote for Dunton hot springs and are really considering it!! We read a few negative reviews which makes us nervous since it is so expensive! Our other issue is flights. We can fly out of Canton-Akron, Pittsburg, Cleveland or Columbus (they are all within 2 hours) however all of the flights this the smaller airports near Dunton Hot Springs make flying extremally expensive! Not sure what to do! Does anyone have any other options or ideas (it does not have to be a ranch, glamping or skiing) but something with outdoor activities and a beautiful scenery (that is not a beach) thank you all again!!

Lake Tahoe. Fly in/out of Reno or Sacramento. Stay at the Ritz Carlton, or better yet, the Hyatt at Incline Village. Stay about 3 or 4 days. Then head south on Hwy 395, thru the high desert, entering Yosemite over Tioga Pass. This is a spectacular drive. Spend a few nights in Yosemite, before heading back to fly home.

I had my honeymoon in Yosemite too. Either all in Yosemite of half at North Lake Tahoe and half in Yosemite like michelleY suggests would be a terrific trip.

Amazing outdoors activities and as posh or as simple as you want.

We went back to Incline this past summer to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We rented a small house for a few days. Very nice. Love it up there.

And the OP could detour to Mammoth ski area if it's still open :) (Mammoth has one of the longest, if not THE longest ski season in the US, but the chances of it being open in July are still minimal).

Do you just not want a tropical beach vacation? Are you open to coastal areas/islands that are not lie on the beach type destinations? The airport issue makes many western mountain areas difficult to access. What kind of services/amenities are you looking for in your accommodations? Are you OK with an unstaffed house/cabin? Would a simple tent cabin/yurt with a central bathhouse be fine?

Have you looked at Grand Teton and Yellowstone NPs? That would be a great time of year to visit.

Ever since I read about the Sawtooth Mountains in Idaho in a New York Times article, I've wanted to stay at the Idaho Rocky Mountain Ranch. July would be an ideal time to visit.

I would suggest you find a better travel agent.
