As my subject says it, this is an unfair question. Neverthless I am interested in your recommendations

Flying to New York on Nov.7 staying overnight as a I fly to Asia on vacation Nov. 8.

Where can I go out and eat have a good time don't spend a lot of cash (not interested in high end tourist traps). Looking for a great bistro style restaurant have good wine and good food and the ambiance is just incredible. WOuld love to here about any other type of cuisine as well..or diners or what comes to mind.

Staying at the Sheraton at 135-20 39th Avenue Flushing, New York 11354.

Looking for something close. We will be arriving at 7 PM.

Good news- since you are staying in Downtown Flushing, you will have many choices of great restaurants a short walk away.

"Bad" news- 90% of them with be Asian and you may not want that right before a trip to Asia. You are also a 40 minute subway ride from Midtown Manhattan, right in the middle of NYC's largest Chinatown and a center for Korean culture on the East Coast. There are no good American cuisine restaurants near your hotel. As in, zero. You are a short bus or taxi ride away from great Central American food in Corona.

I don't think there are any Tourist Traps in Flushing, most tourists don't make it that far. This is a real neighborhood that caters to locals.

I like Joe's Shanghai (Chinese), 136-21 37th Avenue.

I would suggest just walking down Main Street and Kissena Blvd. and just seeing what looks nice. Hard to go wrong.

If you like Korean Barbecue, there are several options along Northern Blvd.

Who knows I might be in the mood food for Asian food, but you may be right as well, which I suspect may happen, that is, since I am going to be in ASIA for 3 weeks...let me have my great last steak dinner or gteat pasta dinner or great seafood dinner...or smoke meat sandwich...lol

There are some great Indian restaurants, including the well-known Jackson Diner, close by in Jackson Heights.

You might have to take a car service, but the cost would be on the low side.

You might have better luck in Forest Hills. Sorry, but cannot give advice on restos. in the area.

I rec. Parkside in Corona queens.It is a ten minute cab ride.Great Italian food and casual upscale atmosphere.They are highly rated in Zagat,You wil need a resevation.
