Sorry Moolyn, I generally don't put my stuff on the net. The google earth pictures being the exception but they are underwater pics.

Since the technology is pretty much the same for still and ditigal motion pictures, I would imagine there is a program out there. I suspect that it is more expensive than the norm.

Bill, how can I find your google earth underwater photos?

I watched a second ebay auction for the underwater housing for a Canon SD800IS and it went for even more than the first one, $156! The reason given for the sale was that the seller had upgraded to an SD1200. According to my local photo shop, the SD800 is a much better camera than the SD1200.

Scuba.com offers the WP-DC9 housing for $174.95 and Adorama offers it for even less - $169.95 - but it's on back order. It seems silly to pay $156 for a used one on ebay.

sorry Moolyn the sentence should have read they "are not underwater pics". I have been known for my lack of proof-reading. I agree that you either get a cheap used housing on ebay or pay the full tab. May over thanksgiving I figure out a way to post my underwater pics.

Moolyn, I found some very old pre-cannon shots and pre-photoshop pictures.

Thanks, Bill! I found some other great underwater photos online too.

I'll keep watching ebay hoping to find a reasonably priced housing as the SD800/WP-DC9 option seems to offer the best photos and reviews. I'll also keep my eye out for a great sale price for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS1 or Canon D10 during your Black Friday and our Candian Boxing Day sales.

If neither of these work out, I'm willing to buy a new housing for around $170. My neighbour's sister-in-law in Buffalo offered the use of her US mailing address. I'm fortunate to have lots of time and several options.

Bill, have you changed the O-Ring on your underwater housing? Canon advises doing this annualy so I probably would need to buy one of these as well if I get a used housing. I'm still watching for a decent price on eBay but the best so far has been the first one for $115 that I just watched.

One of the clerks at my local camera shop advised me to get the housing for my Canon SD800 rather than buy one of the new underwater cameras.

Another local camera shop offers a 30 day satisfaction or return policy so I also have the option of trying one of my top choice cameras and returning it if I'm not happy with the performance. But I may not be happy with the photos I get.

I have not change my o-ring yet, but I should check it before leaving in May. Thanks.

There's a lightly used Canon SD800 camera paired with a lightly used Canon WP-DC9 underwater housing available on eBay right now if anyone is interested. Starting price is $280 and there have been no offers so far. The auction ends on January 4th at 2:03 EST.
