under $120 OF condos in Maui?
 

New to forum, sorry if questions seem to be repeated, and new to Hawaii!

I'm looking into 4 days in west or south Maui in June for the last half of my honeymoon and i'd like to stay in a condo for under $120/night (Newlywed= no money). Is that even possible? I LOVE Honokeana Cove because of the snorkeling, but i'm also looking for a gorgeous beach! Any suggestions/ tips? I have an entertainment book and AAA but either i'm not using them correctly or something because they are not giving me the best deals on hotels/condos that I thought they would! Thanks!

We stayed at Kihei Surfide a few years ago and would definitely stay there again. Its next door to a nice beach, plus you can snorkel right in front of the property.

Try vrbo.com for the best condo rates. They sort the south maui condos by the name of the property to make it easier since there are so many. We have used this website many times for Hawaii. Our last visit to Maui we stayed at the Village by the Sea in an oceanfront 2 bed/2 bath for $900 a week. We loved the views from the lanai, but the beach was better for walking than swimming so I wouldn't recommend it for your needs.

I also recommend VRBO; avoid Sugar Beach due to water/drainage into ocean problems.

A heads up concerning your length of stay in a condo. Many condos on Maui have a 5 night minimum. This was a problem when we went in 2000.

In west Maui there's a bunch of places that'd come close to your price but many won't have a/c.Example - Noelani, studio would just about fit your budget, 3 nt minimum and it's 3-star AAA rating - gives discount for AAA too, have stayed there twice and no complaints.
If beach is high priority try find somewhere on Napili Bay perhaps. Further south there's places around Kahana tho' beaches not as nice generally speaking. Maui Kai mauikai.com is nice and does have a/c, we rented from an owner paradiseinmaui.com and the complex has only a two night minimum.
Go to wizardpub.com, select Maui and you can see aerial photos of properties.
Contact www.mauikay.com and ask her, she's very helpful.

In short, it IS possible :)

By the way, why the special need for air conditioning? I've never even turned it on, and have stayed in several places (yes, summertime).

My brother stayed at the Wailea Palms one summer and was miserable. For me, reaching the mid-70s in the middle of the night (80+ all day) is just not cool enough for sleeping. I guess some of us just need to be "refrigerated", as my husband likes to say. I just will not even take a chance on being miserable on my few vacations. If I don't have to turn the A/C on (doubtful for my family) then great!

We enjoyed Maui Kai this past July. Ask for a newly renovated condo. It was everything we needed, and nicely run. If you have specific questions, I'll try to answer.

last time we were there we stayed at the Leinaala Condo Complex. It was a great condo, very quiet, right on the beach. we found it thru www.mauicondo.com I think we paid $150 PN for a two bedroom condo. the one bedrooms are prob'ly less. Each condo is individually owned so the prices vary. Good Luck!

We have also stayed in Kihei for 5 or 6 weeks total now and never had to use air cond. The trade winds on this side of the island come up every afternoon and cool it off nicely. We leave our window or balcony door open at night and even I have never gotten to hot.

We stayed at the Kamaole Sands condos in Kihei last month and loved it. We needed the a/c and ceiling fans that came with our unit.

This is a great condo complex with an excellent uncrowded snorkeling beach right across the street. It's in your price range. There are dozens of units to choose from on vrbo.com. Some units are much more upgraded than others, but the complex is really nice. Do carefully check the amenities that are offered. Go to tripadvisor.com for reviews of condo complexes in Kihei.

The people in Hawaii are great. Super friendly. Have a wonderful honeymoon.

If I remember correctly Lordbalfor had some pics of his stay at Kamaole Sands, and I took note of the area, outside of the units as we drove by...looked nice to me, and HE loved it! You could do a search on his name and find his pics and trip report.

The winds tore through our Mana Kai unit room 201, but we still perspired in our bed, ceiling fan on 'high' until about midnight! This was last July.

The Mana Kai is directly on the beach that cruisin tigger referred to, as Kihei Surfside is next door to the Mana Kai, and the snorkeling area is shared by both condos, as the rocks in are front of both, with no beach at Surfside, but a huge green lawn.
