Un-used Disney Tickets
 

My hubby and I are heading to Orlando in January for a weekend trip. We each have two Park-Hopper Disney passes from 2000 with one a one day pass still left on them. I remember reading that they will be good forever when we were down there last and can be used on future visits. Has anyone ever done this before? We also have a one-day pass for Universal, does anyone know if the same thing applies?

I don't know about universal, but Dinsey tickets don't expire. That's why it's usually a better deal to buy the passes, even if you're not going to use them on that trip, especially with all the recent price increases.

I believe Disney has stopped issuing the passes that do not expire. I am not sure how the grandfathering of the older passes that did not expire works.

Passes from 2000 probably are still good-now you have to pay extra for non-expiring passes but I believe this has only been the case for the last year or so.

I see now that on Disney's website you do have to pay extra for the passes that don't expire.

We have used passes at Disney with days left on them several times and have never had a problem.

I have also used passes at Universal w/days left on them. I am not sure whether all Universal passes are nonexpiration ro not. But last year we had some old AAA passes w/a day left on them, and when we went to the IOA gate the agent told us to save them because we could sell them on Ebay, even though the days were used up after that visit.

Yes, the older passes are still good. I knew that they would change that agenda eventually, and they did. But 2000, those are still good for sure.

This is not directly responsive to your question. I thought I'd bring in a bit of nostalgia. How many of us can remember entry to Disneyland costing $2 and then buying books of tickets for the rides? E-Tickets, anyone?

When I was growing up in So Calif, Disneyland was an inexpensive date.

I remember using the ticket books in 1968??? We visited Disneyland with my 5 brothers and sisters and my cousin--camped all the way west. My parents must have been nuts.

My daughter just used her Disneyworld Park Hopper pass from 1987---she was 5. She doesn't look like her picture on the back of the ticket any longer.

The last time and only time that I was in Disneyland was over 30 years ago. I can't remember the price to get in but I do remember that you paid for a booklet of tickets to go on rides and that certain rides applied to different tickets.

I only have a few memories from that trip but I do remember that my favorite rides were POTC, Haunted Mansion, IASW, and autotopia. I also remember trying to drive the car while the fireworks were going off overhead. Can't remember much else - chalk it up to age.

The "A" tickets were the worst..you ran around at the end of the day trying to get rid of them by riding on the Flying Dumbo attraction!

Now THAT is something you don't see Disney documenting and memorializing in their 50 yr anniversary celebrations!

i love it! that's one of our favorite phrases- we said eticket ride (my senior partner was driving us to lunch-scary driver) and my secretary who's 24 had no clue. my husband did search and rescue work for northridge earthquake and city of LA sold t- shirts that said "the ultimate E ticket ride" i just can't get rid of it. at the 50th anniversary exhibit at disneyland they have a whole bunch of the old ticket books. i remember my frugal dad keeping all the A and B tickets for the next year, like we would use them then or something!!!

Univeral and IOA have two kinds of tix. Those that expire within a certain number of days from the time you first use them and another that never expires (and is more expensive).

My family (from NY) lived in Cocoa Beach '69-72 and, of course, visitors from back home would go to Disney and use up the good tix and leave us the rest. I cannot tell you how many times I went on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and those teacups, lol.
