There is now a McDonalds at the base of the mountain.

Thanks for your responses. Have to admit I was somewhat amused by the critical responses. The response of looking for spots where cruise ships don't come in is probably right on the spot. Once $$ from cruises comes in, it changes the market.
Happy travels all.

I agree with your comments about KW. Because of the cruise ship passengers and others they are rounding up the chickens and shipping them out of KW. Duval St. has turned into tacky central.

Two places are very much like Key West used to be, in the Bahamas, Harbour Island and Tarpun Bay on Eleuthera.

Beautiful right on the water, cute small shops, artist community and cute restaurants. No fast food.....well nothing is fast in the Bahamas. NO high rise hotels, the larges being about 30 rooms.

Hope this helps.

Go anywhere which is not mentioned in any travel web site. I live in one of those places and I won't say where it is on this forum.

Stay away from the east and west coast. The real America is in the center.

Baxter State Park in northern Maine.
All dirt roads, Mt Katahdin (sp?) the end (or the beginning?) of the Appliachian trail. BEAUTIFUL...

OKay you guys, calm down (lol). I was sitting here in my midtown office in Manhattan and I was just daydreaming about having a cold drink in a warm area when I came across the thread. Now normally I don't respond to the madness on the board, but thanks for taking the stress out of my day. I giggled and laughed so hard after scanning over the various responses that the troll like president of the company who happened to be slithering by stopped to chit chat for 3 seconds! I guess the smile on my face was infectious!

So, behave yourselves, and thanks for the chuckle.
