Let Vegas Ring?
Should I let freedom ring in Vegas for 2002? Earlier this week I was wondering where the heck I was going to spend my New Year, A friend of mine heard me say this and freaked out on me
and I quote Are you kidding me? Vegas stupid I guess everyones going to Vegas for some huge party. Has anyone ever been to Vegas for New Years Eve? Im seriously thinking about going to this party. Has any one heard about it?

Yes-Las Vegas is sleazy and tacky...that is sort of the point isn't it? I mean if you want to have a nice quiet dignified evening out you can go to the Waldorf or a posh restaurant, or stay home...but if you want to be noisy, see lots of people, lights, wackiness and yes,rowdiness-there is no better place to go than Las Vegas! The streets do fill up with revelers, if you are staying in a hotel on the strip, stay in the hotel, they are known to lock doors around midnight to keep the hords from coming into the hotels, especially the "better" hotels i.e. Bellagio,Venetian/as in any big city (NY) there are plenty of loud, obnoxious drunks, why should LV be different on New Years...I think if a noisy, sort of wild, ringing in the New Year is your thing, Las Vegas is the place to go~Happy New Year

ABC-obviously you are not a big New Years reveler. Have you ever been to Las Vegas? Facts are - it is tacky and can be downright sleazy in the right places, but it is also full of nightlife, good food, fun, wacky people (is that a bad thing?) and it is a great place to celebrate New Years...or any other celebration you would like.Fact is...on New Years Eve they do lock the hotel doors, at least that was true in the Year 2000, I missed last years..and you may list any big cities that you know of that do not have obnoxious drunks roaming around after midnight on New Years Eve.As far as endorsements go-you can call it one or not-it is just me listing the facts that I know from my experience of New Years in Las Vegas, and I really like LV--have been going there off and on for more than 25 years now...so next time you see my posting of something, feel free to "not read"~~Happy New Year

Please, please fordorites....everyone has their right to give an opinion. Let's not loose sight of the question.
Las Vegas for New Years? I have been going to glitter city twice a month for 10 years splitting business with pleasure. If you want all that New Years is suppose to be, dress to the hilt, a great meal out, lots of booze, reveling, partying, loudness, crowds, meeting strangers, etc. etc. then glitter city will give it all to you.
Just beware...the slot machines have been tightened up to the max since 911. The casinos have lost all their oversees big spenders and I mean the million dollar a night spenders (Arab Sheiks) so they plan to get it nickel by nickel from the average joe. But if you don't mind playing those expensive video games then you'll have a great time. Besides, you can't say it's no fun until after you try it.
So go have some fun! Viva! Las Vegas!

Susan: First of all it is lose not loose! Please people take it from me.I live and work in Las Vegas. We are finally coming back! Now as far as tacky...sure some places on the Strip are. But some would consider Bourbon St in New Orleans tacky...Mallory Square in Key West..even Times Square. To me it sounds like the ones complaining the loudest about Las Vegas are the ones who came here expecting to be big winners and left as big losers!

Eikes! Yes, I did spell that word incorrectly. Lose...Loose. I'll be more carefull next time. My hubby is a stickler too on spelling.
M....I will not be going to Las Vegas this New Years. Just got back from a slot tournament at the Treasure Island and had a great time. But your desire to go for Valentines Day and spend time at the Bellagio's spa sounds heavenly. Circo for dinner, ahhh. Yes, go!
I'll be in New Orleans this year for the crowds. And tacky as it may be I plan to put my best efforts into getting drunk, loud and obnoxious. And if I spelled that wrong I'm terribly sorry. Gotta get out the dictionary.
Happy Holidays to all!
