Honolulu airport to Waikiki: deciding between Uber vs Taxi vs Shuttle

What is the cheapest and quickest?

I will be arriving around 9pm and returning back to airport around 8:30am

Can Uber pick up from airport or are they not allowed?

Uber & Lyft are currently allowed to pickup at the airport...they had a 3 month pilot program last fall and were recently renewed (March 1) for six more months. Not sure what date you arrive HNL but if it's after August 1, 2018...may or may not still be allowed (probably will). I think typical taxi cost is under $40 - especially at that time of night. 8:30 AM return will be different - Honolulu has some of America's worst rush hour traffic. Plan accordingly for longer trip and more expensive trip, too. Ask your hotel desk about morning commute times.
