U.S. Threads by major cities?

I have seen posts lately about separating Hawaii from the rest of the U.S. posts. Since there are several threads on Hawaii and it is definetly different than the continental U.S.,I agree that it should be separate. However, I think it would be nice to have all major U.S. cities or popular travel areas separate. When I am looking for a particular travel destination, I never search by state it is always by city or location, ie. "The Keys".

when I'm looking for the latest reply on Hawaiian hotel rooms, I'm likely to stop into a Boston thread and post my comments and reviews (I live in Boston).

By separating each city, you'd drive down traffic.

You are already allowed to filter responses by state. That level of granularity should suffice.

Good intentions. Bad idea.

Agree with bad idea above. Hawaii, by the nature of its geography, rates a separate forum, but I can't think of any other US locale that would.

Laurie,
Your idea was somewhat adopted by Fodors about 2 years ago and caused a veritable riot, particularly on the Europe forum. Why? Let's suppose I'm a mid-Westerner visiting the east coast for the first time. I want to visit Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington. Your suggestion would send me to five different sources for city info and probably a sixth to find out how to get from one to another.

That was the type problem folks encountered when visiting the European forum. Planning a trip that encompassed London, Paris and Rome, for example, forced them to three different sources for threads.

Thanks for your replies. I guess this makes more sense now.
