U.S. Spa Getaway for Girlfriends

A friend and I are looking for a place to relax, unwind, and escape our families over a 4 night weekend getaway within the US. We are planning to travel in early February. Can anyone give us some specific resort ideas for a relaxing and fun girlfriend getaway? We are also interested in combining our spa getaway with wine tastings and/or the beach. It would be helpful to be within 45 minutes from a major airport. Any ideas?

Yes, try the Oaks at Ojai. I have gone every yea for almost 10 years and it's the perfect girlfriend getaway.

It's also very inexpensive compared to to other spas and everything is included - food, workshops, movies, Bingo (a real hoot!), a wide variety of classes and a couple of free spa treatments depending on how long you're staying. They have a bike ride to the beach in Santa Barbara a couple times a week but the town of Ojai is charming with lots of galleries and shops and a very laid-back vibe.

The best part of the Oaks, though, is the female bonding where women from all walks of life (doctors, movie stars, artists, soldiers, cops, teachers, etc.) and from all over the world become like teenagers at a slumber party when they start to relax.

Check it out, you won't be disappointed!

Best,
Lisa

P.S. Santa Barbara and LAX are the two airports. Both have shuttles to Ojai where you really don't need a car.

Sorry, I meant to say the beach in Ventura which is south of Santa Barbara. Also, there is plenty of wine tasting in the area and a couple of nice wine bars in town.

Two of the top spas in the US are Miraval and Canyon ranch both near Tucson..so no beach though.
