When I read this, I thought of the recent thread, here on Fodors, about spelling etc. leading me to think some Fodorites would get a kick out of this.

LoveItaly Feb 3rd, 2005 11:55 AM

Weird? It downright scary Scarlett, because it is easy to read! LOL.

LoveItaly Feb 3rd, 2005 11:59 AM

Hi Scarlett, what is also weird is trying to post a reply to your thread. Not possible, sigh!

Well, I will try again.

And what is weird is that what you posted is understandable. That is not only weird, it is scary! LOL.

GoTravel Feb 3rd, 2005 11:59 AM

Shooo!

That's a relief.

At first I thought it was my meds:-D

FainaAgain Feb 3rd, 2005 12:02 PM

Wednesday, you scared me!

Wednesday Feb 3rd, 2005 12:07 PM

scared myself

Eva Feb 3rd, 2005 12:11 PM

No problem reading it at all. Perhaps teaching 7th grade has helped me in this task? {imagine smiley thingy here as I have no idea how to do it}

atilla Feb 3rd, 2005 12:14 PM

Eva:

http://www.fodors.com/forums/smileys/

drag mouse over characters next to the face and copy, then paste it beneath your message. it will not look like the smiley face or whichever one you choose until you hit "Post My Reply"

atilla Feb 3rd, 2005 12:15 PM

oh ya,
:-)

Eva Feb 3rd, 2005 12:31 PM

Atilla, Thanks I never knew how everyone did that. :-dI will be sure to not overuse them as I have read that some find them annoying :-| If you should notice that I get out of hand with them please let me know :-]
Damn I am so proud of myself =D>
Eva

Hey, wait a minute, ((B)), ~o), ((D)) but no wine glass :(( --to whom should I address my complaints?

atilla Feb 3rd, 2005 12:39 PM

You are welcome Eva! What fun huh!?!
:-p

I have often wondered why there is no wine glass also.

:-O

OldSouthernBelle Feb 3rd, 2005 12:40 PM

to the whine master, of course!OSB:))

Meesthare Feb 3rd, 2005 01:55 PM

Gee, Scarlett, was there something unusual about the message you posted? It looks normal to me. Then again, I work in a psychiatric facility. :)

OneWanderingJew Feb 3rd, 2005 02:07 PM

And I teach dyslexic kids all day long so I had no problems either--looks like a couple of my kids' essays...actually I saw that message at an inservice. Interesting, isn't it. Imagine being someone who sees things that way ALL the time. Is there any wonder many Learning Disabled people are horrendous spellers?

emd Feb 3rd, 2005 02:08 PM

solution: just drink your wine out of a coffee cup like the rest of us.

or if you are Budman, drink it out of the beer mug.

atilla Feb 3rd, 2005 02:11 PM

I don't want my $6 bottle of wine smelling like coffee!! Don't be silly emd, if anything, drink it out of a martini glass. You will look classy too!

((D))

It makes me think that other languages that are based on phonetics really have a point.

My brother is a rocket scientist, yet a horrendous speller. He learned the Micronesian language quickly because you spell things exactly as they sound. Maybe in the English language, he's just a Typoglycemia expert! :)
