Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach?

Two families with children ages 5,6,7 & 7. Which water park do you recommend?

Thanks.
Kristine

Typhoon Lagoon is a tad tamer. Both parks are very good. If there is a difference in crowd or convenience, pick the easiest one. Your gang will have equal fun at either.

According to my boys (10 at the time) Blizzard Beach rocks, Typhoon sucks. I agree.
Blizzard has more variety and better rides especially for families with younger children. Typhoon has the wave pool and nothing else.

I don't know about Typhoon Lagoon "sucks". You really can't go wrong with either one. If it is wild slides you are wanting, go with BB. If you are mainly a wavepool person, then go with TL. Both of plenty of an assortment to make you happy. Heck, go to both. Waterparks are always top on our list at DW. We enjoy them more than any of the other parks. I think the travel channel rated them #2 and #3.

Typhoon Lagoon is my personal favorite. The slides are probably better but Typhoon Lagoon has more diversity if you aren't just into slides. They have the snorkel experience and the water-coaster, although the kids will be too small for the water-coaster. The setting is just gorgeous and it is relaxing.

Blizzard Beach definitely has the better family slide though.

Here are links with good information about both water parks:

I thought it had been reported on the news that one of them was closed for some reason. Double check to be sure, as their website may not be up to date, or other reasons.

Have fun!

Blizzard Beach is better with younger kids. We were there last Friday for several hours. It really is great fun. (I think younger kids will enjoy the "winter theme")

A couple of suggestions if I may:

1) Check the weather reports and be flexible about which day you're going. We had planned on going on Wednesday but all the weather reports indicated a much higher chance of rain and greater coverage area for the rain that day than any other day. That caused us to alter our plans. Good thing we did as it rained almost all afternoon on Wednesday. Certainly, there is a chance of a storm everyday. But, it's big difference when they start talking a showers versus passing storm.

2) Have your tickets before you get there. The longest line we waited on was to get our tickets.

3) Plan to stay late, if possible. The crowd really started to thin out by 5 which made it far easier to enjoy the place.

4) Spring for the locker. Why spend time worrying about your belongings.

5) If you have a hard time finding a place to park your towels, etc, head past the main food area (just after the front gate) down towards the volleyball court. Even at 12:30 there were plenty of empty chairs in that section. There are actually relatively few chairs near the kids areas. We've always found spots on the sand just before the wave pool.

6)Take the stairs up the "mountain" to the Teamboat Springs family raft. The ski lift always has a long line of at least 25 minutes. The walk is less than 5 minutes up the 160 stairs.

7) They do rent towels. But, I don't think your WDW hotel will mind if you use their pool towels and bring them back.

We've been to both and looking back I can't separate them. The one with the ski lift is fun. I like the tube ride around the periphery, so I guess it doesn't matter to me.
