If you're going to be there the weekend before the First Monday of the month I highly recommend taking a detour to Canton (less than an hour from Tyler) for the First Monday Trade Days (one of the top flea markets in the country).

With Canton there is very little 'flea' and a whole lotta MARKET!
It's great.
Sure, there is a lot of junk but there is tons of true bargains on great stuff, new and used.

I just popped back into this message stream and was delighted to find some new responses. Thanks to all of you for the suggestions. The girls will love the Donut Palace, I'm sure, and I'm looking forward to checking out the flea market.
