Tybee Island, Georgia

I will be traveling to Tybee Island and was wondering if someone could suggest a nice place to stay, and the name of some good restaruants. Also, if you have any other helpful information I would appreciate it very much!!
Thanks

Tybee is a laid back place. Look at tripadvisor.com for reviews of the few hotels. There are some B&B's if you like them. Depending on how long you are staying, you may be interested in a rental at a house.

There are some casual places to eat on the Island, but Savannah is just a short drive away. I'd go there for really good dinners.

I know this is a bit vague, but don't know how long and what type of place you are interested in.

tede...have you been to Tybee before? Laid back as a description is almost an understatement.

The best eating (I wouldn't use the term dining) used to be the Crab Shack on Estil Hammock Rd, off the island proper, but not far away. Go casual...as casual as you'd like and you still may feel a bit dressed up. :) Good food, and convenient to Tybee.

Lived in Sav for years, and visit often. Asked my friend who was at Tybee yesterday. She recommended Hunter House (B&B and restaurant), Georges (expensive but good restaurant), North Beach Grill (very relaxed Carribean on North end of beach and Tangos. The Grapevine on Wilmington Island (which you will pass over on your way to Tybee) has good Greek food. Ask for Kelli (owner and my friend). Have been to Crab Shack - good seafood. Many more great restaurants in Savannah -- Riverhouse on the riverfront has great seafood. The exchange has good sandwiches and potatoe salad (also on the river). For a quick dinner of fried seafood, you can go to Williams Restaurant on the Tybee Road (you'll pass by it on your way to beach). Have fun!

Thanks everyone for your information. I've heard about the Crab Shack and we are going there......yum!!

Have any of you watched the Discovery Channel this week? It was awesome..the show was about crabbing in the ocean. Check it out.
Thanks again, if you can think of anything else about Tybee Island please let me know.

One more thing, what is your opinion on St. Simons Island? Today someone told me we should visit that island too. If there are any other beaches in GA, SC, or NC that you think is very nice, I would appreciate any information you give me!!
Thanks again

FYI - Williams Seafood burned down almost a year ago. You will also pass Uncle Bubba's (co-owner is Paula Deen) and the food is really good.

St. Simons is about 2 hours away from Tybee and the beach is not worth the drive. It's only available at low tide and but the island is good for shopping and eating. If you have time, I suggest going to Cumberland Island. It's on the Ga/ Fla border and you have to take a ferry over to it. It's very remote and there is a limited number of people who can visit per day.

While there are certainly very good restaurants in Savannah, there's no need to drive all that way from Tybee to "dine". Both Hunter House and especially Georges are wonderful, top notch restaurants. Reservations are needed at both on weekends. If you choose only one, make it Georges.
