Looking for local advice regarding directions for NYC Manhattan Pier to the Hyatt Hotel in Jersey City
(Have the mapquest) was hoping for some tips.
Parking advice in Jersey City would also be appreciated - hotel is $$$
Thank You!

Manhattan has many, many piers - dozens in fact.
Do you mean the Seaport? If not - which pier do you mean?
And are you asking for driving directions? Will you be renting a car - or have one with you?
(Not sure why you would need a car for NYC or Jersey City.)
I think more info would help.

When we stayed at the Hyatt Regency Jersey City in July, on a Sunday, the approach to the Holland Tunnel was beyond dreadful. No idea whether this is typical or traffic was rerouted that particular day.
Anyway, you can save a few dollars parking by self parking your car in the same garage the Hyatt uses which is only steps from the entrance.
Or, weekends there is free parking on the street, from Friday 6pm - Monday 7am (doublecheck the signs) if you head north on Washington Blvd (just after you pass the Chase Building and see Staples on your left). This is about a 15 minute walk back to the Hyatt, but for a weekend trip can be worthwhile.
Anyway, the directions to the hotel on the hotel's web site are excellent, but you must follow them carefully. You do NOT want to miss that left turn when you exit the Holland Tunnel or the right turn if using the Lincoln Tunnel.

maps.google.com is usually better than mapquest. WHY are you driving from any pier in Manhattan to Jersey City? For parking in JC, map the hotel on google and then use the "search nearby" feature for garages. There are dozens of them within a block or 2 of the hotel. I assume you know the hotel also has parking but it's pricey.
