Our favorites are K-Paul's for lunch and Nola's for dinner (reserv. well in advance are nec.) both in the Quarter. <BR>

I won't go to New Orleans without at least one trip to Commander's Palace. It's been top-notch for decades and continues to be, although my favorite meal there is the jazz brunch on Sunday. Even if you're not there on Sunday, I'd advise you try their brunch/lunch. When you make reservations, ask for the Garden Room. Through some accursed luck, my one and only meal at Nola's was really horrible....

lunch at Uglesich's or Gallatoire's and dinner at Peristyle or Bayona

Commander's Palace without a doubt. It is the best restaurant in New Orleans, and possibly anywhere. I have never had a meal that compares. Take a cab, it is across from a cemetary with some crime problems.

We went to NO last May for the first time. I thought NOLA's was great! Dookey Chase was very good and I also liked Acme Oyster House for a big plate of crayfish and oysters on the half with a cold beer. I heard Emeril's was very good. Next time I'm not missing K-Paul's.

Another vote for Commander's Palace.

K-Paul's and Bayona are both great suggestions. Others you may want to try are Palace Cafe, NOLA or Emeril's. Don't miss Cafe du Monde for beignets and cafe au lait - either for breakfast or after dinner. Every Sunday morning, we eat the Clover Grill on the corner of Dumaine and Bourbon - great omelets and waffles (nothing fancy - an old fashioned type diner). They also have good burgers and are open 24 hours. They have a sister location on St. Peter just across from Pat O'Brien's. For great pastries, try Croissant D'Or in the 600 block of Ursulines - heavenly croissants. For the best burgers in the city, try Port of Call on the corner of Esplande and Dauphine - go early - there is usually a line, but it is worth the wait. Have a great trip.
