two nights at new Camoldoli Hermitage
 

Just returned from two nights at the Hermitage. It's a glorious place for a silent retreat. There are basic rooms (with shared shower) or somewhat more expensive private hermitages.

the setting is 1000+ feet up a hill overlooking the pacific. beautiful chapel. the food is a bit basic-continental breakfast in a shared kitchen. then a more substantial lunch and a more limited supper. there is a refrigerator in the kitchen for personal food and each hermitage has a frig.

there are many benches available for sitting and meditating.

the summer weather was quite warm when i was there-in the 90s during the day with no A/C, only fans.
and there were bugs-flies and gnats.
a season other than summer might be a better time to visit...
