Two Meeting Street Inn?
Would be interested in hearing feedback about this inn. It's rated way far down the list on Trip Advisor-- which surprised me. It looks wonderful from the outside, and is in a wonderful location, so I'd be curious to hear what the drawbacks are. (It's expensive, but so is Wentworth Mansion, and it's rated highly.)
Thanks in advance. |
Trip Advisor sucks and the reviews aren't worth squat.
Two Meeting Street Inn is a wonderful inn and I wouldn't hesitate for a second to stay there. However if I had to choose between the Wentworth Mansion and Two Meeting Street Inn, I'd go with Wentworth Mansion. |
My parents stayed at Two Meeting street and absolutely loved it. They liked it a little more than The Gastonian in Savannah. They visited both on the same trip. It's in a beautiful location, right at the battery.

I second Wentworth Mansion. You could also add Planters Inn to that list.
In my case, trip advisor has been very helpful. Will |
I find Trip Advisor to be very helpful. Two Meeting Street might be a little stuffy, but you have lots of choices in fine accomodation in Charleston starting with Charleston Place. there is a Doubletree (haven't stayed there for a while) right on the market with suite type rooms.
I also like the Indigo Inn althought it's a tad on the shabby side, the folks are lovely and the location is great. there's also Vendue Inn, and a terrific larger place on Meeting Street that I cannot recall ...... used to be a very upscale Holiday Inn.... |
Thanks for replies.
I, too, find TA very useful. I don't take the in-put as gospel, but I much appreciate people taking the time to catalogue their pleasures and disappointments. I find the detail on that board (particular the negative reviews, rather than just the oohs and aahs) very welcome. E.g. on TA people often comment on some of the things I'm most interested in (whether a place is quiet, for instance). If you read many reviews, get many slants on a particular accommodation, it most certainly does help. Can't imagine why someone would lambaste the site. I'm leaning, now, towards the French Quarter Inn (though I know it's not an ann in the traditional sense of that word). Thanks again |
