Two Days in Seattle
We will have two days to spend in Seattle next week, wondering what are some must do things?
|
People have posted a ton of suggestions for Seattle here in the past. Find the "Search the Forums" thing above here and search for Seattle and see what people have suggested previously.
|
take the transit bus to Tacoma to visit the Glass Museum and the courthouse with Dale Chihuly's chandeliers-easy trip from Seattle
|
Personally, if I just had two days to spend in Seattle, I would not want to spend them indoors. Maybe spend some time at Pike Place Market, visit a local beach, take a ferry to Bainbridge or Whidbey Island, see Snoqualmie Falls. Check out the previous posts as Andrew suggests & see what interests you! The weather right now is gorgeous, hopefully it will last!

My "must do list" for my home town:
Pike Place Market/the Waterfront Space Needle/Seattle Center ferry to Bainbridge Island and back Pioneer Square historic district/Smith Tower Seattle Art Museum/Seattle Public Library Olympic Sculpture Park Snoqualmie Falls |
Good list, suze. More ideas:
Woodland Park Zoo Bus to Madison Park for lunch at Cactus Breakfast at Macrina Bakery Chinatown for a meal and Uwajimaya Asian Market Argosy cruise through the Locks Safeco Field Opera or Symphony Concert A night at Jazz Alley and/or Triple Door Performance at Seattle Rep, Intiman, or ACT |
With only 2 days in Seattle, taking a day trip (to Tacoma or any place else) seems a little absurd!
There is more than enough to fill 2 days and then some! Especially since Seattle has some many neighborhoods to explore. (On my next trip to Seattle, I'm definitely heading up to Fremont so I can enjoy all that public art) Some of my highlights (I was just there): Pike Market, Savor Seattle walking tours, Agrosy cruise to the locks, Gelatiamo (for the BEST gelato in the world!), Volunteer Park, 5th Ave theater (saw Sunday in the Park with George!), Theo Chocolate tour ... there is a lot! |
If the weather is nice try renting a Kayak at Acqua Verde near UW. A double rents for $18/hour and you can float over to the Arboretum-gorgeous wildlife! or by the famous Lake Union houseboats. (opens at 10 am and by lunch you are off to do something else). If you are into history I HIGHLY recommend the hilarious Underground Tour, starting at Pioneer sqare.

Thanks for the info - bookmarking.

My top list, priority order:
Ballard Locks (you can take a bus from downtown if you don't have a car) Olympic Sculpture Park Take the ferry to Bainbridge Walk along the water in West Seattle to see the great views of Seattle (you can take a water ferry across the harbor from downtown) Pike Place Market - lunch at one of the many restaurants I think the Kayak rental is a fantastic idea and lunch or dinner at Aqua Verde is tasty. |
thanks everyone. You have giving me some great ideas. Our main stay is Portland but we thought we would drive up to the Seattle area. Now I have to decide what to do when. Thanks again

My family of 5 - me, DH, & 18, 15 and 9 year-olds will be stopping in Seattle on our way to Vancouver, BC for a cruise. I am looking at all of your great ideas for a two day stay. Pike Place Market, Space Needle, and maybe a Mariners game are our ideas right now. Is a car necessary to get around Seattle? I am trying to figure out whether I should rent a car for the stay and then drive up to Vancouver. The other option is to use mass transit to get around Seattle then take the Quick Shuttle to Vancouver. How long is the ride via car usually? Any other suggestions? Thinking of staying at a Comfort Suites while in Seattle and Sunset Inn while in Vancouver.

Great suggestions. who knows the easiest way to visit snoqualmie falls. would you recommend a tour company or car rental?
|
Either would be OK. It's not all that far from Seattle (less than 1 hour).
