Two days in DC, what not to miss??

We are going to DC this weekend, staying at the Renaissance Washington on 9th Street. We've been to DC twice before with our kids, but it's been years. This trip it's just the 2 of us (we just turned 50). Any recommendations for don't miss things to see or places to eat?

Thanks for any suggestions!

A lot depends on what you saw on past trips and what you didn't see. I would start by making the WWII Memorial and the American Indian museum two places to visit, since both are new and very worth seeing.

Try to see the FDR Memorial at night - simply gorgeous...my favorite!

Hi there,

I went to Georgetown and spent many years in DC. I always recommend the Georgetown waterfront as a great place to sit outside, have a drink and watch the boats sail by. You could also take a little boat ride from the waterfront up to the monumnents and back. I've done that several times with visitors and really enjoyed it.

I went back this past weekend (now living in NYC) and had the MOST WONDERFUl experience at the Spy Museum! It was so much fun. I was by myself on business and ended up spending 6 HOURS there, checking out all of the fascinating exhibits. Have fun!

Thanks for all the great suggestions! I think DH would really like the spy museum and the WW2 memorial. I don't remember seeing the FDR memorial other trips, so we'll check that out too.

Thanks again!!
