Two days in Boston (please, suggestions)
 

On my way on business I will be spending one day in Boston. I worked it out so my layover will be 24 hours. I love city environments in general and I hear that Boston is one of the best. Any suggestions on interesting points and areas to enjoy would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Lana

Do the walking tour. It's very easy -- you just follow the red (or blue) stripe. It will take you to many historical sights, and you'll get a feel for the city on foot that you would not get if you rode the bus.

Business sometimes takes me to Boston, too, and I've fallen in love with the city (just don't like to drive in it!). There are two art museums in Boston which are terrific: Museum of Fine Arts (aka MFA) and the Elizabeth Gardner Museum. This latter is unique and ought not to be missed on any account. Bookstores in Cambridge are great for rambling/browsing and I enjoyed just walking Harvard's campus. Finally, there's an IMAX at the Science museum.

I strongly suggest Fanuel Hall. It's a fun place to go and there's lots to eat!!

There is also a "half price" ticket booth there where you can purchase same day performance tickets for half the price. Great show for the evening!

I live in the Boston area. A stroll on Long Wharf near the aquarium has some beautiful ocean views and gardens. A lunch at Durgin Park at Quincy market is a good way to try some of the local food.(The turkey dinner is great!) Another good restaurant in Quincy Market is Zuma's Tex-Mex. The Science Museum is showing a great film in the theater called "Everest". The Globe(newspaper) gave it a great review. Have fun! It's a great city!

There are so many things to do and see in Boston. My suggestions would be to take the trolley tour to get a feel for the city. It is fun, interesting and informative. During February, they offer a chocolate tour. Different to say the least. The Fine Arts Museum is gorgeous, walking Newbury street with the outside cafes is a treat, stop for tea at the Ritz on the corner. Visit the North End and try 5 North Square or Felicia's or the restaurant directly across from Felicias. The name escapes me.
Cafe Budapest is an expensive but to die for restaurant.
Great fish -go to the wharf area. Jimmie's , Anthony's or even the no-name restaurant. Fanuil Hall is fun for outside entertainment and people watching and eating standing up! The Aquarium across the street is magnificent as well as the inexpensive Harbor tour by boat-$7 . It gives you history and a glimpse of old ironsides. Have fun!
