Two Bedrooms in Washington DC

Hi All, My family is planning to take a trip to DC the first week of April. I did not expect the difficulty I am having finding two bedroom accomodations. I have two teenagers, boy and girl, so we need space. Because of a newly discovered diet limitation I have a need to be able to prepare some of my own meals. I cannot find an available two bedroom apartment. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am considering the Residence Inn in Roslyn but have not made a final decision. I welcome any suggestions

Have you checked out VRBO (Vacation Rentals by Owner)? I've had great luck with them elsewhere.

For location, Roslyn's fine.

Rosslyn

Yes I have checked VBRO, great stuff but it seems we are late to the game on booking them. I am still trying.

Residence Inns are great. I have stayed at them several times in the past couple of years. They usually have a 2 bedroom/2bathroom unit that is less that the price of 2 separate hotel rooms, plus a small kitchen/dining/living room area with a fold out couch. I have a reservation in April at the Residence Inn near the Pentagon Mall in Arlington. The area is very convenient to DC. My price for 3 nights with taxes included is about $1,000. This also includes a continental breakfast.

Washington Suites Georgetown - we stayed there several years ago, so do not have current info - but they have 2 bedroom suites. We had a 1 bedroom suite which was really like an apartment - 2 queen beds in the large bedroom (which had a real door) and a sofa bed plus other chairs in the living room. Had dining area with table and 4 chairs, full separate kitchen with regular sized appliances and pots/pans and plates, etc. Breakfast was included.

Location is not really Georgetown but near Foggy Bottom Metro stop (about 3 blocks)

There's a Homewood Suites on Mass Ave (near McPherson Sq. metro) that would be a little more centrally located. I've stayed the at Wash Suites Gtown and it's very spacious for the price in the city. Residence Inn is also a pretty good choice location wise.

My first thought was VRBO, too. Have you considered a home exchange? Some of the exchangers are amenable to one-way exchanges as it means their home won't sit empty while they're away. Plus, that would give you a kitchen to prepare special meals. We were home exchanges for a while, but found that many people did not wish to exchange with pet owners so we gave up our membership. The first week of April here is spring vacation for many school districts, so you might find something. Just a thought...

Embassy Suites Convention Center on 10th Street has few 2 bedroom suites with a full kitchen.

State Plaza Hotel - its more of an apartment - bedroom, living room, kitchen. Very well priced for the area, and its in a great location

There is a Residence Inn in Old Alexandria, but I didn't see any two bedrooms available on the website, but you could try calling directly. I haven't been there yet, staying the 3rd week in April.

Good luck.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I went ahead and booked the State Plaza Hotel, based on recomendations. It is only a one bedroom but there are two queen beds and the living room will give everyone some space. I am a little nervous about the noise potential. None of the other suggestions had that much space for the money, I will post here to let everyone know how it goes.
