tuxes on cruises?

Have a friend who is going on a Carnival cruise..she is wondering if men are wearing tuxes or suits/sport coats to the fancy dinners...
Thanks!

People will think he's a waiter if he wears a tux on a Carnival ship!

A nice suit or sports coat will be fine.

Yep a tux is way overdressed for Carnival cruises. In fact if he wants to blend in, a polo shirt and khakis will blend more than a sport coat, except for the usual one dressier night.

We've been on 2 Carinval crusies and DH never wore a tux. We only saw a handful of people wearing them, and they looked out of place. For formal night DH wore a grey suit and tie. On other nights, slacks with short sleeved, collared, button-down-the front shirt.

formal night on carnival...no need for the tux. A suit and tie is more than enough.
