Turkey Run State Park, IN Feedback Needed

My family is considering a family reunion (50-60 people--all ages) at Turkey Run State Park in Indiana. My family enjoys rustic places. It seems to have something for everyone--an inn, cabins, and camping. Any comments/suggestions would be helpful.

Turkey Run has a nice (small) nature center with planetarium. There are trails. You can rent canoes nearby, I believe.

However there isn't anything very close to Turkey Run as far as fast food etc.

McCormick's Creek is another nice Indiana state park.

I think Turkey Run would be very good for what you want. The inn is very nice and has a very good restaurant. They have hiking trails for all levels. It is rustic and there are a lot of ravines and hills. Really nice campgrounds. The inn does fill up quickly in the summer so I'd make reservations soon once you make final plans.

Agree with traveler, there's not a lot of eating options outside the park (but maybe you don't need them?). Also, McCormick's Creek is also very nice and will provide some other options.

Before you get too far in planning, I'd call and check availability. For that many people, you'd need a lot of rooms or sites.

We do a reunion at a state park in Iowa and make our reservations on the first day that they take them - one year in advance. We also used to stay with friends at a state park in Illinois (Starved Rock) the first weekend of June every year. We would also make those reservations a year in advance.

Thanks for the help. We will have our reunion in July,2008. One of my cousins was surprised that Indiana has such nice state parks! (she lives in Wisconsin)
