Tulsa, Dallas and the likes
 

This was supposed to be my summer in Europe :( Due to sad circumstances I have to go home to Oklahoma. I'm from central OK and would like to drive up to Tulsa or down to Dallas when I get a chance. I do have a three year old. I can do most anything except nightlife. Any festivals? Great eats? Sites not to miss? I'll be there at least end of this month for a month or two.

If you want to know what's going on in Dallas, check out the Guide at www.dallasnews.com. Unfortunately, most of the outdoor festivals took place earlier in the year before the weather got too hot. They'll start back up again in September after it cools off.

Your three year old would probably enjoy the Dallas World Aquarium downtown, as well as the Fossil Rim safari out near Glen Rose. Fort Worth Stockyards can be fun for kids. There are numerous museums in the area, too.

Lots of good shopping, including several outlet malls. Some of the best are on the north side of Dallas which would help you.

Dallas has more restaurants per capita than any other city so, take your pick!!

Don't forget Ft Worth. It has a very unique western character. You'll want to visit the old stockyards area which has been renovated. They have events there occasionally which are very fun. They have a nice downtown to visit--even at night--a safe place.

Both FW and Dallas have some good museums of all sorts.

In between, you'll find Six Flags, Hurricane Harbor Water park, Rangers baseball games, Ripley's, the Wax Museum, and horse racing. All these are on I-30 in one concentrated area.

If you can get down to San Antonio you will almost feel like you are in a foreign country.

I should add she's really into cowboys and horses. Where can I find the best deals on kids boots or cowboy stuff?

And do you know of any Indian Taco places?

And isn't there a restaurant with saddles to sit on in Dallas?

Hi. I was just in Ft. Worth at the Museum of Science and History. My 6 & 9 year olds loved it, and there is also a section in the basement for younger children. Right across the street is a Cowgirl Museum. We did not go to that, but it sounds like it might be something your daughter might enjoy, although I am not sure what age this museum is geared toward.
