We will be flying into Tucson at the end of Feb. and driving a co-worker to Yuma for a project. What's to do between Tucson and Yuma and what can we do after we leave Yuma for 4 days?

I live in Tucson - there is Nothing between Tucson and Yuma. Interstate 10 to Casa Grande and Interstate 8 to Yuma, that about does it. Lots of empty desert and a few small towns.

After leaving Yuma I'd go to San Diego if I were you if you are looking for an interesting city with things to do. Again, between Yuma and SD there is not alot of fascinating sights, it is mostly farming communities.

We drove Grand Canyon to San Diego 2 years ago, stopping in Yuma overnight. Lori is correct - the trip is boring, at best. Being from the northeast US, I had this silly notion that the desert was filled with beautiful cacti and sand - it is grey, brown and barren. (The guy at the gas station did show us how people use some big cacti for target practice, though). Not only is there nothing to do, there is barely a place to stop and eat or get fuel.

On the plus side, Yuma has some incredibly inexpensive lodging.

We then drove thru the mountains to San Diego - that was a nicer drive, but a little nerve-racking thru some mountain passes with big scarey trucks.
