Tucson Things to Do

My husband and I are heading to Tucson next week (for 3 nights). We are interested in good restaurants (especially Southwestern cuisine) and maybe some horseback riding (just a day trip). Although we are not experienced riders, we would prefer something other than a trail ride where you follow 20-30 other riders at a snail's pace on old, tired horses. We would also be interested in nightclubs with live music (Classic Rock, R&B...anything danceable. Any suggestions?

Be sure to take some time to check out the Sonoran Desert Museum. It's incredible! You'll be introduced to every animal, plant and mineral that exists in the Sonoran Desert. Most of the exhibits are outdoors. Great place!

Favorite restaurants though it's been awhile: For Mexican, El Charro, El Minuto, and Mi Nidito. Other good restaurants: Cafe Poca Cosa and Cafe Terra Cotta. For expensive, try Janos. One of my favorites is Tohono Chul Tea Room (beautiful surroundings)try this for lunch or brunch.
For great hiking, drive up to Mount Lemmon or Sabino Canyon.
Not sure about horseback riding for just the day, but you might try one of the ranches, Tanque Verde, Lazy K, Westward Look, White Stallion.

Just returned. We enjoyed the Mission San Xavier south of town as well as a drive out to Tubac. If you're there long enough for a day trip, look at Bisbee and Tombstone.

Sabino Canyon should be at the top of your list.
