Tucson Resorts/Spas

Message: My husband and I would like some recommendations on resorts/spas in Tucson. Two we're considering are Westin LaPaloma and Loews Ventana Canyon Ranch. My husband golfs and I enjoy the pool, spa, good restaurants. We'd like a property that's been well kept and service is very good/excellent. Our reference for AZ resorts is Marriott Camelback and Hyatt Gainey Ranch in Scottsdale, which we thought were both very nice. We're trying to find something on a comparable scale in the Tucson area.

Loews Ventana Canyon Resort and Canyon Ranch are 2 different places.

Canyon Ranch is the ultra-expensive health spa.

Stayed at La Paloma, loved it. One of our favorite hotels, but we had our kids, but they have a nice adult only pool and jacuzzi. Great service and pool area was wonderful. Swim up bar, and rooms were your basic nice hotel room. Did not try spa, but supposed to be very nice. A good restaraunt there too. Near SAbino Canyon, which was a nice day trip. You are a little removed from downtown area. We stayed at Hyatt in Scottsdale, and liked La Paloma better.

FWIW I have a friend in Tucson who could do his golf membership wherever, and he chose La Paloma. Yes, it's removed from downtown, but I think just about everything nice about Tucson is at the north end of town now.

Canyon Ranch is not a resort in the usual sense of the word. As a previous poster said, it's a health spa, with an emphasis on health. Its restaurants? Keep in mind that said the emphasis is on health!
