Help! I've been reading the lodging posts and I'm more confused. Do we want to stay North? East? South? Coming for sun and scenery. What about Ramada Foothills? Is Grant St too busy? People had good things to say about the Sheraton there. Help!

Avoid the south like the plague. I would stay in the north if I had my choice. Otherwise, head east. I personally live on the westside of town and love it, but there are not many hotels in a safe area over here. The Sheraton on Grant Road is fine---it's more in the heart of the city. If you want to have great views in a safe area, I would stay up north at the Westin La Paloma, Sheraton El Conquistador, Loews Ventana Canyon, etc. There are plenty of holiday inns, hampton inns, etc. in the north area as well. I'd be happy to give you more info if you told me your price range and which hotels you were considering.

You may want to consider using priceline. We used it last year and go the Sheraton El Conquistador (a lovely resort) at a fraction of the price. Check out biddingfortravel.com for more info.

In a word, North. We like the Windmill Inn and Suites, and it's been recommended by others here.

Thanks for offer of help. Priceline scares me with not being able to see details beforehand. I may still work up the nerve. I'd like to keep it it under $100--some of chains have good deals on expeida etc. What about Ramada Foothills, it said it was NE or Comfort suites at Sabino Canyon? Open to other suggestions.

I understanad you reservations about Priceline, but for Tucson North they do have a 'resort' category (in addition to the 1 thru 4 stars). In Priceline, a 'resort' has a list of available amenities listed on the priceline website. If you use Priceline wisely you can get some amazing deals. We've done it many times and never have been disappointed (we've even been upgraded).

Ramada Foothills is fine, but in a busy area - Sabino Canyon and Tanque Verde, if I'm not mistaken. But it's a fine place with a lot of shopping nearby. Similar setting to the Sheraton on Grant. It is not right in the foothills but the property looks out towards the mountains. There is a nice Marriott at the University which is a nice area for shopping and restaurants, too. The foothills resorts are definetly the nicest places to stay. Don't forget to consider Westward Look on the NW side of town. An older. lovely resort with large rooms and great views. Of the other resorts Ventana is my favorite.

My daughter and I have reservations at Mi Gatita B&B 15 miles south of Tucson, in Sahuarita. We wanted to be right in the desert. Has anyone ever seen this B&B, or stayed there?

I tried to stay at the Comfort Suites Sabino Canyon lst weekend - was full. Ended up staying at the Motel 6 as it was just a quick weekend with my son. Considered the Clarion in downtown Tucson. IT looked nice and they did have space.<BR><BR>Be sure to take a trip out to Sabino Canyon - Went last weekend for the first time and thought it fantastic.
